I know I'm a bit late to congratulate you, since you started it a couple years ago, but I'm happy that you and writing have found each other. Secondly, I've been wondering if other people (besides myself) visit places their late parents visited and try to pick-up context clues (or what have you) in a probably futile attempt to learn/understand them better...
Anyway, I hope you've been well and look forward to more posts.

www.mrsfranzos.blogspot.comMrs. Franzoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18382735863966642149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6774688605369751367.post-76498994694799915722015-04-02T18:52:11.553-07:002015-04-02T18:52:11.553-07:00David, your writing is fantastic. The things you have seen...The places you have been. The things you have seen. The way in which you describe what you see in the surroundings that others may not see. Even when you are at home in PA, you make everything sound so enticing. Are you a visionary with those heavenly blue eyes?

For many years in my home town of Ossining,NY, I would walk everywhere I could, whether it be the woods, the streets of downtown Ossining, or county/state parks. I would look at the buildings, architecture, etc. of the unchanged parts of town and even some of the renovated areas and put my mind back in time to what it must have been like when Ossining (originally Sing Sing named after the Sint Sinck Indians) was a young town. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ossining_%28village%29,_New_York.

In the wooded areas, trails, and fields, I would imagine what it would be like to exist there and who or what may have existed there way before my time. I felt magical in those woods, as if I were surrounded by unseen nature spirits, as well as all the wonderful animals that probably were watching me from a safe distance.

My favorite time of year to do all of these things was just that... my favorite time of year; Autumn, with the glorious foliage. And the glorious smells in the air... Mother Nature's perfume... A deep and earthy scent that I could only compare to a combination of patchouli and ambergris (I did not realize that the scent was coming from dying or decaying leaves LOL).

I feel that you could make anyone want to visit the places that you have (your home town as well) with the way you see them. However, such people would have to be able to see things the way that you do. See what is hidden by time, wear and tear, and hidden behind something that others may think is "not so appealing.

Ever think of being a tour guide?

Take in all the seen and unseen beauty of this world while you can David. Keep putting these into your blog, with your dreams and personal descriptions and definitions of these places. It helps us all to learn to see and keep seeing the beauty in all things our world has to offer; not just the horror stories... Years ago I went to Puerto Vallarta and I did not venture out as far as you did I guess I was afraid of getting lost. Stay cool where you are at. Here in my state it's cold and I'm still using the heat:(. Have a wonderful evening:)Battice Posthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14129826546692680485noreply@blogger.com
